KPH early days

Kis, thanks for posting this. It was a good read.

I feel blessed to be able to make that knife every time I do the pattern. Its one of my favorite grinds. When I get i right, it feels so good to me.

Great post. Thanks Kis.

BTW, guys you can't imagine the influence ole Sarge had on me. Started me making little projects. Using my hands. Got my mind off of things plaguing it. Turned me around, and got me headed in the right direction. And on top of that taught me to make knives. Sarge, Kismet, and the old gang from HI are where and how this Fiddleback thing got started.

:) I miss Sarge.

:) I miss Sarge.

He's fine.

Down in St. Augustine, FL. Went to visit family years ago, poked around, got a post-Air Force retirement part-time job as a blacksmith at an historical recreation village, and, as you might expect, got promoted to where last I heard he was running the operation. Had a wonderful significant other come into his life, and is (probably) teaching other folks how to learn, do, and contribute.

Every now and then a person gets lucky and meets someone like him along the road through life.

We got lucky. :)

Wow, awesome story there. Funny how sometimes a ray of light shines into the darkness and illuminates a new and unexpected path.

Sounds like there is a lot to be thankful for these days and it sounds like Sarge was a good man. I'll drink to that!

I know I've been looking for the right KPH for along time. Wish I would have picked up that carbon fiber one when I had the chance.

Not just this thread, but all the older ones?

This was/is a major issue with BladeForums. They do not host images on their site, so you have to upload them elsewhere and then link to them here. So back in the day, many people used apps like PhotoBucket and other "free" photo hosting sites. Well, they didn't stay free... so most people didn't want to PAY just to have photos show on BladeForums. So, those photos just went away. It's much like when BladeForums integrated with Tapatalk (app on mobile). It was such a good interface and you could upload photos right from your phone. But guess what broke later when they updated BladeForums?

We used to post the Fiddleback Friday previews here.. but it got so buggy on whether or not it would show the photos from our site. We'd post 20 pics hosted on the Fiddleback Forge site, and several would randomly not show to people. And it was so random, we'd fix those, refresh, for different ones to not show. We just gave up and moved on.

So, this is a fundamental problem (among many) on a platform that has refused to keep up with the advance of technology. Which is sad, because they've lost their core audience to platforms like Instagram and Facebook... where knife enthusiasts are hated and discriminated against. 🤷🏻‍♂️
