When the first KPHs got sent to KnivesShipFree I jumped on one right away, as I am a big fan of the design from the Himalayan Imports days. The red linen one was shown in the KPH thread to see what it looked like without bolsters, but I preferred the green linen one that was also sent to KSF. I thought folks might like to see the green one, since it disappeared from the KSF site when I bought it. I think this is the first production model "in the wild", no?
Overall I love this knife and it will definitely become a hard user. Well done Andy!!
Great feel on the handle. I'd still like to see a guard or a checkered section on the spine, but it's not as much of a concern as I thought. Blade is beautiful and quite sharp. The false edge isn't sharpened either, which I prefer, to not run afoul of the Texas knife laws.
I'm impressed with this enough that I think I will sign up on the KPH list for something with fancy wood as a real looker.
Unfortunately, I've had it a week and there hasn't been a single time where nice outdoor photography was possible and I wasn't working... :grumpy:
So you get these crappy photos in faux-Kismet hunting style. Better ones later I hope.
Compared to Bura KPH/"Sarge" from HI. I have a couple others that I will need to dig out to see a real family tree. The Fiddleback version is quite a refinement!
