Hi all,

I have the distinct pleasure of having received this past week a micarta handled, 1095 blade and backspring, custom Sodbuster from K R Johnson at great river forge (www.greatriverforge.com).

I have to say, I've owned several production sodbusters, but this is my first custom. It's AMAZING! Seriously, it's a fantastic and masterfully crafted soddie!!!

The handle is perfect for my hand. The pull is about a 7 on a 10 point scale, which is just right. The snap is nice and I'm not scared to use the knife for fear of it folding back on me.

Speaking of handles, i'm really impressed with just how even and perfect is the shape. No flaws, and it rests just nicely in my palm.

The blade, which is 1095, takes a VERY keen edge and holds it. After whittling some wood, I could still shave my arm hair. I stropped it and it was just like new. When open, it is perfectly flush with the backspring, with no gaps at all.

I've managed to take some pics of me whittling wood, handling, etc. I wanted to share with you all and let you see some amazing work from Keith. He's a maker on here, so check him out. I just HAPPENED on this soddie at the right time, otherwise they go VERY quickly.

Thank you Keith.

Enjoy,

Brett

That is one good looking Soddie.

I've been looking for a long time for that elegant, rugged, simple folder to keep in my pocket.

I think I've found it...at least until I get another of Keith's soddie!

Sorry, my pics are a tad fuzzy.

The reliable old Work Horse---The Sodbuster!! Good for you! :)

thanks Rolf. I love this one.

Can't wait to get a good patina on it. Gonna cut some steak tonight at the Cattleman's steak house here in Oklahoma City!

YEAH!

Brett

You Welcome, Brett! Rich, from Case Knives, told me to stick my Soddie blade in a potato and leave it there over night. That's supposed to give the blade a nice patina. Later! :)
