I've been eyeing the SP50 for quite some time and I'm wondering on what's the overall durability of ontarios kraton handles. I know some companies kraton gets loose from chopping and batoning as well as being being not deet resistant. Lastly, if the handle gets loose does ontario provide warranty by re-handling the knife?

Hopefully someone else can come along and give you there experience with the Kraton handles, since I can't exactly be considered impartial. What I can tell you is that our Kraton handles are on the Spec Plus series as well as the Gen IIs (like the SP50). The Spec Plus series itself is a 20+ year old line that has seen combat under harsh conditions with the US military. I personally own several, and keep the SP8 in my trunk in case I'm ever stranded or there's an accident - that's the one I want around if I'm legitimately afraid.

As for the warranty - if that handle comes loose, we're going to want to know. We'll try re-handling it if you prefer. If that's not possible for whatever reason or if you don't have a preference, we'd give you a brand new knife.

I know this is an old thread, but I just bought and ontario kukri and after one use the kraton handle is loose. I have not done any batonning at all whatsoever. All I did was chop some low hanging branches next to my house that were about the size of two or three thumbs. Loved the performance otherwise and the edge is still sharp enough to rough shave, but the knife wobbles in the handle.

Get in contact with Ontario Knife Company's Customer Service on their site for warranty service. OKC is pretty good about their warranty!
