i have a boye basic3 and would like to glue kraton in the handle area to make it less slippery when using it. is there a source for a sheet of kraton kinda like what spyderco uses in some of their handles? thanks

I would try Jantz, or Texas Knifemaker's .

If you google the phrase
knife supplies

you will get a number of hits.

thanks for the suggestion, i can't seem to find kraton listed in either store...anyone else have a suggestion? i just need two small pieces 1" by 6"

I was thinking roll gasket (like we used around bulkhead doors on ship), but I couldn't find a source via a google search.

I don't know about Kraton but I used rubber sole material from a shoe repair shop back in the '80's. . . .It works great! Pretty much any shoe repair shop should carry this and it comes in either precut or sheet form.

Good luck,

Jerry :D

.

horse stall rubber is also pretty popular. no, I'm not kidding, you'll see it on competition cutters.

Kraton polymer, to my knowledge, is not sold in a sheets or rolls in its pure form.

Kraton is the name of a company and one of its family of polymers. (Sort of like Kleenex is to tissue paper)

Every container of a pure Kraton polymer (elastomer) I've seen was in cardboard canisters/tubes containing thousands of tiny (about the size of a pea) off-white, semi-translucent balls.

I'm fairly certain that the black rubbery "Kraton" handles on knives are not 100% Kraton polymer, but rather a compound of several various ones.

No idea where/who they buy it from, or even if every company uses the same formula.
