Krein grind on HD-7

I'm seriously thinking, ouch, of having Tom Krein put a zero edge on my HD-7. Any in-put from you Emerson knits? This knife will not be a user knife.Thanks.

I will. I also asked Tom to post some pics if he wanted to. He only has the blade. I hope he posts. Did you send your HD blade in? That blade should be back any day now. Can't wait.

Tom is going to flat grind the blade and leave it two-tone. He thought that would look good and I went with his suggestion. Can't wait to get 'er! I'll post a pic.

When did you send the blade and what kind of grind is Tom gonna do? I should have mine back any day now-I hope. I told Tom just to do a basic flat chisel grind on mine since the knife will only be used when absolutely necessary.

Perfect! The right edge geometry for the intended job. Make sure you know how to properly maintain that edge, TG. You'll love it. Post!!!

I'll tell ya a cool grind on a chizel blade is what W.R. Clark used to do. He would nicely hollow the back or right side of the blade and then put a flat/chizel grind on the left side. I had one of his PDK's like that. Like a fool I sold it. Thing was sharp and amazingly robust. keepem sharp and lets seem some pics!
