I also frequent the Spyderco forum, since Jerry has not blessed us with a folder yet. I love my Spydies. I have read a lot about the Tom Krein re-grinds there. My question is has anyone sent their Busse in for this treatment? I think that my Active Duty really is screaming for this! I would love to see pics or hear some feedback about this mod.:D:D

Here is an SUS Scrofa that has undergone a Krein Regrind. I really don't care that much for the blade, but I love the Green Linen handles.

I almost got a blade that I was going to send to Tom, but then I ended up NOT getting it. If I had, Tom would have had my business. He quoted me a very fair price for what I was asking as well as a quick turnaround time.

Kind of hard to see it. I bought it like this, I didn't send it in. Fat Game Warden, blade thinned out a bit. Krein Regrind, he does good work.

I've been tempted to send some things to Tom, as well, although I already have an AD thinned down by Ban. Keep in mind that a reground knife is not likely to be covered by the original Busse warranty on the edge.

I had the work done to both of those. Mr. Krein is a animal behind the grinder, hense the "Grinder Monkey" nickname.

FWIW, I wouldnt send a knife to Tom for a regrind if you plan on using it hard like to pry and dig with because he likes to thin them down a bit but they make great slicers/cutters.

He is also very kind and fair IMO.

Heres a couple I had done ..........

One is the Benchmade 760 Tanto and the other is the 12800 Tanto , Tanto no more

That TI Benchmade is sick. Great looking knife now the tanto grind is gone:D. Others look good too. I have wanted to send stuff to Tom just havent committed to it yet.

If I knew what Dobywon was gonna have done to that SS, I'd have never sold it to him. Hurts me every time I see it...

With the exception of this one, I'm a fan of Tom's work.

I've got a Benchmade 710 I want to send in for a regrind. I also have a Meaner Streets that has an edge so fat it is almost useless. I've been convexing it down but I really am running out of patience.:D

I have a Strider AR by Krein Regrind, it's a sweet knive. I also have a Bann FFBM and have had Horton work done. I like Garth though, he does a great job and it retains the factory warranty, can't beat that! You have to keep in mind, those people at Busse know what they are doing, if they don't grind it down to be thinner or won't do one of your special request, it might be because it will effect the integrity of the blade and it won't be as strong. The Busse crew is good to me.

Funny thing is, the profile is not much different than that of the High Street(bigger swedge and no recurve) a knife in which you bought how many of?

I actually had pictured the high street when I sent it to Tom for the regrind.

Very close if you ask me.

LOL, are you really gonna tell me that this...

...Is "very close" to this?

Um... Well, OK, kinda like how a tomato and an orange are "very close"... Same general shape & size, both are fruit even... But they don't taste anything alike!! ;)

That is a great edge on that LUM. I emailed Tom about re-grinding an Active Duty user I have. When I got it there was an INFI hole in the edge just below the sabre line. It looks like there was a bubble in the metal when it was poured.

The knife was a stripped coated blade. I'm hoping a Krein regrind will take it out and give me a wicked cutting edge as well.

Hopefully I will hear back from Tom. He is probably pretty busy with his K9 Dingo project though.

Does anyone know who else might do regrinds and possibly bead blasting as well?
