Looking forward to hearing (reading) your impressions of the Kressler!

Yes, I will post my impressions of this baby when it arrives. I wonder if Coop already has pictures of this model? Anyway, I am really curious about examining the powder steel up close. The grind lines, the blade finish, the handle contours...wooooooeeeeee!! Oh, I had it shipped 2nd Day Air... :)

First off congrats on an awesome score!

The AG Russell/Archer Chute is my favorite Kressler of all time..

There is a Coop photo montage of the same model on knifelegends.com

Thanks for the link! :) I've noticed that the blade designs are different on these two (2) knives, even though they both refer to the Archer Chute design. Both are quite nice, although it does lead to a little bit of mystery as to what I'll get....

The grinds are a bit different, but remember these are handmade items.

Kressler also makes his own interpretation of the Loveless chute, and the overall design is quite different from the AG Russel version. Needless to say I prefer the one you got :)

Regardless of the nuances, you have purchased one of my VERY favorite knives. The one I shot was really hard to send back. It's a pinnacle custom!

Congrats on your smart choices!

The more I look, the more I like that Kressler. The blade shape really appeals to me, as does the fact that it is an integral.

Thanks Coop. Coming from you, with all of your experience studying and photographing über-knives, that makes me believe this was a safe purchase... :D

I wish I had the $$$$$ for that Kressler!!! I would buy it in a heart beat!!

It was not an "unsafe" purchase.

A good rule to follow in knife(or any, for that matter) collecting is piece first, maker second, price third.

1. The piece that you get, you should love. That way if you get stuck with it, no upset takes place, no wringing of hands and moans of woe.

This particular piece is unique to A.G. Russell as a supplier, you cannot get it anywhere else. This is, ahem, a double edged sword.

2. The maker in this case is exceptional, and at the top of the heap.

3. The price is reasonable.

Looking at it from that perspective, or any custom knife for that matter, you have a little check list to work with. Enjoy your new knives!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

:) Thanks. I was just kind of kidding with Coop. I have no worries about being "stuck" with this knife (no pun intended), as I love the design, the materials, the execution, the maker, and the vendor. When Coop said this knife (actually one very similar) was among his favorites, I simply took that as a great endorsement of this knife (and my own taste). ;)

That's a pretty good synopsis, STeven. Boiling it down to a nutshell.

You won't need my endorsement once you handle this knife!

This is an exceptional piece that anyone would be proud to own! Very clean, and elegant. Enjoy, and congrat's!!! Mike
