I'm new to butterfly knives and am going to buy one. I want a kris blade but I don't know if they are double-edge blades or not, and I am not going to start with a double-edged knife. Any help as to if it is double-edged or not would be helpful.

Welcome to the forums! A true kris would be sharp on both edges and, if you've never 'flipped' before, I'd discourage you from getting a double-edged knife as your first one! The worst wound I ever received flipping was from a double-edged 6" bladed bali I had Ralph Turnbull make me..........a couple too many beers and some impromptu flipping and there went the back of my hand...

.....What can I say???

You can find cheapies with a flamed blade (it's not a Kris but it looks like one), sharpened on only 1 edge. I have one... it's not great quality but for a start, you can have fun with it. And it's cheap.
Mine... I found it in the Chinatown of Chicago.

you can have a lot of fun with other blade types, especially if you are starting out. kris blades are made to cause extra damage anyway.
