Hi, with Kris being my given name I was wondering if there are any Kris folders out there, production or custom. I'd like to get one for my collection. Pic's would be good. Cheers Kris

Frank B. makes an automatic Stiletto knife in a Kris blade shape.
By the way, you should probably think pretty hard before you buy a knife for the sole reason that you and the blade have the same name. This wouldn't be a problem if you had a name like Leif or something. Leaf-shaped blades are useful. Unfortunately, your parents failed to predict your future as a knife enthusiast, and so your name is not Leif. It is Kris. And I heavily dislike Kris blades.

Well Dan57 your right my names not Leif its Kris, and my choice to buy a Kris blade is exactly that, My choice. and the fact that you "heavily dislike Kris blades" don't mean Diddley Squat to me dude.

Fine. Then the fact that the fact that it doesn't mean Diddley Squat to you that I "heavily dislike Kris blades" doesn't mean Diddley Squat to me. :p
Really, though. The main point of my post was that if you buy a knife solely because of a name, then you might end up regretting it. That's all.

David Bowie has a lot more choice. Seriously my first thought was the Spyderco Kris and the Benchmade Butterfly Kris used by John Travolta in "Face Off". Both discontinued and hard to find.

Waitaminnit...are we suddenly being limited to knives of a particular utility? I may be in trouble.

Spydie "Kris" is one of my Favorite Knives ( have 7 of them so I must like them and all are Engraved and Safe Queens ) as soon as I heard they were going to be 'Disc.' I got as many as I could and just wish I had more of them and the "Persian" << both sizes.!!

I think the only production folders with Kris blades will be the Spyderco, balisongs, and autos.

There's also this assisted opener I found for about $7 (not a balisong)...

Somehow I don't think it's quite what you're after. :o

Is a Kris blade only good for stabbing ? And, is it any more lethal than a straight dagger blade ? (in reality, not popular conception)

Probably not as good as a straight blade for much
I read somewhere that the wavy versions of the kris swords were harder to use properly in combat and would tend to stick in bone
The waves were there for spiritual reasons.

Spyderco made a gold bug and a black bug model.

A wound from stabbing with one might be a bit nastier, than a straight blade but I doubt the person getting stabbed would notice the difference.

Goosey, thanks for explaining origin of the waves. I recently acquired a vintage Anton Wingen Kris Dagger(8 1/2" OAL) and wondered why they made them. Doubt it was ever a big seller. It has a very stout blade with grinds coming from a median ridge, both sides.

Wavey blades are a bit like giant serrations also you get more edge length for the same overall blade length. Must be a nightmare to grind and sharpen.

They may not be useful at all for EDC, but as far as cool blades with a great history go, the kris is up there...

Kris blade knives are pretty hard to find, you'd either have to get lucky and find a discontinued production piece, or commission a custom piece from a maker.
