Kris bolster scratches

I recently found a Kris on sale from an online retailer. I received it, as was usual with those early Schempp models, loose in its box, without a plastic bag, and the bolster on the opposite side of the clip has a lot of tiny scratches, probably from rubbing on the inside of the cardboard box.
What should I do to reduce or eliminate those tiny scratches? Also, I do not want to risk damaging those micarta scales...

Put it in your pocket with your keys and some loose change. In a week, you won't even see the original tiny scratches. ;)

I wouldn't touch it, if you do it ceases to be NIB. You can still resell it later as NIB with shelf wear.
If you plan on keeping it, then the scratches don't really matter I guess.

SS scratches just by looking at it. You could carry the H out of that thing, use it properly, polish the handle and it would look better than new! Your not gonna hurt that Micarta.

Or, you could send it out and have the bolsters engraved. :D

I have two large Persians and two Kris. If you look hard enough in strong light you can see fine marks in the bolsters on all. All of them are NIB and it used to bother me a little, but it's just the way they came from the factory. You have to look closely to see them and not much in this world is perfect if you look close enough.

OK, here is the update on those scratches: I used Simichrome polish and gently rubbed those bolsters with a soft cloth. I am amazed by the results: I would say that 90% of the lightest scratches are gone and the deepest ones are much less visible. True, the metal now has a more polished look than before, but because I rubbed along the same direction the original satin finish was applied -lengthwise- it really looks like the factory finish. I then moved on to my large Persian, which had much lighter scratches, and those required less rubbing to remove and are totally gone.
Both those knives are keepers, so preserving the "NIB but scratched condition" was not a necessity.
Thanks to all for your advice. Paul, the day I get a second large Persian I will consider having some kind of engraving done on it, I like yours.

I forgot my Kopa Coco in the glove compartment for a few day. Found it with quite a few scratches, worked on it with 1000 grit sandpaper, looked like new for a while.
