Hey everyone - this is my first post on Blade Forums, but I have been checking up on this site for a while now. I like all the interesting info I learn from these forums, and I especially love seeing pictures of everyone's collections.

I have been into balisongs since junior high school, and I still play with them now... daily. I don't really have any big cool collection of balisongs, but I have maybe around 20 cheapies. I would really like to get a BM-42s soon, but it's a little steep for me. I know everyone here thinks it's well worth it, and I'm sure it is, but I don't really have the extra $130 or so for one.

I have this neat curved butterfly knife that is from Japan, and I would post a pic of it, but I don't know how to... if someone can help me with this, then I'll try to get a picture up soon.

Also, I really, really liked the balisong pictures that sniperboy posted from the PC catalog...

Another thing, I like to download pictures of balisongs, and I have hardly any kriss blade balisong pictures... EVERYONE WITH KRISS' PLEASE POST PICTURES!!! The kriss blade is my all time fav blade. I have a couple of flame bladed balisongs, but that's the closest I'll ever get to a kriss. I really like the samson kris that Clay has - how much is that baby worth, if you would mind sharing?

when you post pics, type
after the url, it tells all this stuff when you go to post a message......to the left it says UBB Code is on......click that and then it will tell you how to post pics, post urls, ect.

Welcome to the forum. i dont have a kriss balisong yet.

Thanks for the help, Quicksilver. But do you know if I can post an image from my hard drive? I don't have a website or anything, and I wouldn't really have the time to make one.

Welcome to the forums!

You can't post a link to an image from your hard drive... if you don't have your own web space to use try http://photopoint.com/

I believe that Samson kris (only one 's' people!

) is worth around $2500.

Thank you NaTeDoGG, you spelled it correctly: it is kris not kriss, it's just one of my pet peeves when people misspell stuff and mispronounce (like saying skimitar when it's spelled scimitar and supposed to be pronounced like simitar

)

Welcome to the forums!

The kris blade balisong belongs to Chuck, not Clay, it was ground by Mr. Samson, it's an amazing blade and it captivates me when I stare at it!!

Save your pennies and when you can, get a 42, it is well worth it!

That piece of Mr. Dawkind, while not strictly a kris, is still a great custom balisong by one of the most noted custom makers. He's got a great sheath for it too.

I have not yet been abot to take the kris in question off of my site. It should go off since its turn on display is done. But, it's still there

At the risk of upsetting people, this is not my only Samson kris nor is it my only fine kris. This is my favorite, though, since it is a very early piece and just really exceptionally made.

The kris blade profile is extremely difficult to make well. Very few bladesmiths even attempt it and far fewer really succeed.

It's a damn shame that the closest I'll ever get to owning a Sampson Kris is someone THINKING those beautiful pictures out there are mine.

Ahhhhhh, it did feel good for awhile though.

Thanx for setting the record straight Cameron.............. ya' Bastid!

That one one heck of a flame bali, Dawkind. That dude has a lot of nice balis. And sorry about the spelling mistake (kris not kriss), and also the Samson kris thing, too. Also, out of curiousity, where would one go to get a custom blade made? and how much would a good kris be?

Where to get a good kris blade? Scour the website for someone selling one and buy it, though the price would be way out there.

How much for a good kris blade? Lets just put it this way, if you don't have the cash for a 42 then there is nooooo way you'll be gettin a kris blade anytime soon. They cost tons of money, especially if it's made by Mr. Samson.

Right now, I am unaware of a custom maker taking orders for balisongs with kris blades. Very few makers make kris blades in any style except the traditional Indonesian styles. Furthermore, you can pay several hundred dollars for a kris dagger and yet, because it's a second-rate kris, it's just not worth it. A kris is a very challenging blade to make and it just leaves no room for error. With just about any other profile, a minor mistake can be corrected and the finished product can still be perfect. But, a kris is unforgiving.

Flame blades, too, are very difficult.

So, you don't see these very often.

Mr.Turnbull will make another custom similar to the one I have for $1200 or so depending on the materials used. If you want one with a 4"-5" blade it would be a little less. He said his other style blades in the 4"-5" range would run $550 and up. He heat-treats and stress-relieves the handles, which are made from 416 stainless. His e-mail is TBULL2000@aol.com....................
