Kriss Cutlery Question

Survey says that Kris Cutlery products are a good deal for the money. No they aren't custom swords but they decently functional and pretty darned tough, I owned a KC29 katana for several years and it was completely capable of the uses to which you wish to put it. In fact I would MUCH rather have a KC katana than many of the ubiquitous chitana that I see on the market these day. I'd say go for it.

Also as a note "combat ready" is marketing drivel pure and simple. Many swords that claim to be such aren't, in fact if someone is claiming that their swords are "combat ready" or "battle ready" as part of their sales literature I would look at them very suspiciously. Most good companies don't need to stoop to such gibberish. Not a criticism of you, just trying to explain a little...

I had a bare blade from a custom run about 8 years ago, and it sucked!

The edge was NOT hardened. It was inexpensive, but so what, it was not a viable sword. The edge turned on green bamboo. Getting the blade fit up for tameshigiri was NOT inexpensive, it all turned out to suck the big wenola!

Hope this helps.

Interesting, I think I remember when that run was put together. I think you would have to agree however that would be an exception rather than the rule with Kris Cutlery products at least so far as I've heard.

I know better than to just take a companies word for something so easy to state, like "combat ready, combat proven, battle ready, ect, ect." I do appreciate your comments though. Having handled one KC a few years back, and it did seem like a decent blade, but not a great blade. But then again, it doesn't cost "great blade" money, and i think, for the money its a pretty good deal. About double a cheap knock off blade, and the one i handled took apart a couch out back of my apt at one time. That was fun...If i decide to pick one up Ill post pics.

Excellent, I'll be interested to hear your opinions of whatever it is that you decide to get.
