Knifecenter, a paid Bladeforums dealer member, is selling these now - http://www2.knifecenter.com/brand/332/Krudo-Knives, has anyone picked one up? There are some youtube videos of their application, and the designer is/was registered here and discussed them a little. Seem to share similar concepts with Bram Frank's Gunting/LLC, but as a k-bit.

it looks like an anti-karambit. Cant say im a fan of the design. actually i must say it looks exceedingly mall ninjaish.

I ran across a recent thread in which Krudos participated. The knife is, according to him, to be used in pain compliance techniques.

From what I was able to gather, the steel is one of the AUS8 equivalents, the lock is something unconventional, and the blade design is probably made to work with a certain martial arts set.

I spent some time in a martial arts forum; the Escrima/Arnis/Kali guys use the karambit/kerambit for non-lethal takedowns, as well as knife combat. My guess is that this is similar.

Hi Shorttime

Not trying to be disrespectful.

Please let me clarify that the "knife" can not be used in what I call pain management....the SNAG Controller can.

I made a mistake and learned a lesson on my last thread....so I will be joining as a paid member.

Any question on my design and use of SNAG please ask away. Not everyone will like my designs and the purpose of use but, I still appreciate the comments and interest that my knives may create.

Thank you.

Hello, again.

I take your use of the phrase "pain management", in this context, to mean "causing pain to get the other guy to do what you want him to do."

So what does the SNAG do?

And does it work with a particular martial arts system?

First I hope that this line of thread does not cause any major issues.....I read a response from Ken C in which I asked what it meant when it was said "not to encourage this type of behavior". So I will do my best to answer properly.

You are correct...in the case of SNAGs Controllers....it is use for pain compliance.

I wanted to create a tool...apart from a knife...in which whomever carries a SNAG can use it to defend themselves. Of course one has to take into account that this can happen if and when an opportunity arises.

SNAG Controllers and the individual using it do not need a martial arts background.
Simple instructions and some practice and you are ready to rock and roll.

Hope I was able to answer and if there any other question please ask away. Thank you

I think the difference between participating and spamming is that you step across the line to spamming when you start promoting your product, without being asked.

But I'm not a moderator, so don't quote me!

The Snag reminds me of the Shivworks Clinch Pick, and some of the other reverse-grip blades I've seen, which made me think of the connection of FMA.

Okay, so it's a self-defense tool, with an unusual design. Leaving aside the questions of blades and self-defense, what led you to this sort of inside-out karambit?

Shortime and Hardheart once again thank you for the opportunity.

I will answer as short as possible and please do not misunderstand what i write. I am not saying that I came up with the first idea...I am just stating a chronological event.

I have practiced martial arts for close to 40 years....I enjoy weapon training and tools that make life safer and easier with minimal damage yet maximum effect no matter what your size.

I came up with a knife idea in 1996, designed it...carved it and discussed it. I was told it was disgusting and a major liability. Then 3.5 years later I decided to have it made. Found a master knife maker, he looked at my drawings and date of conception...told me to wait and came out with (I believe it was Blade magazine) a magazine which showed the first folder Kerambit. So my idea was to late. Once again I AM NOT SAYING that I was the first, I am just saying I had a drawing in 1996.

so drove home had an epiphany....carved it out and made my first knife/tool.

I have been fortunate that Blade took noticed and appeared on the magazine and then in 2011 worlds best knives....then was featured in KNIFE in Japan

I will be joining today as a platinum or knifemaker membership to be allowed to answer questions properly.

I hope I shed some light.

I have one, it's a very unusual design, I too was worried about the "made in China" and the steel quality, But it's very well made
and has a solid lock up. And the times I've spoken to him about the design features he was always willing to answer my questions.

Thank you......

1996?!

I have seen the Snag before!!!

Thanks. This has been bugging me on and off for a while now.

And, yeah, karambits, no matter how you spell them, have been around for quite a while. Not sure how long, but the design is thought to have originated with fisherman who wanted a knife that could be retained while tying line and other tasks. Hence, the finger ring.

Just a bit of history. But then, I'm guessing you knew that.

Any plans for something bigger, or more "traditionally" styled?

Hi Shorttime

Yes to all of your comments...including that bit of history....the Kerambit originaly had a very small edged area and a gut hook for cutting lines....this is one aspect.

After the present line of knives that I have made (the flag ship so to speak) I have moved to a more traditional but tactical style. I am also experimenting in the hybrid carbon fiber. This is nothing new to the master knife makers but, for me it is about trying to come up with something different (hopefully) and having fun trying. It's all about the hunt.

The knife world is a tough one...difficult to get in .....hard critics and other funny business.

It's a thrill...
