Hello :)

I am looking for a leather sheath for my DPX Hest and the ESEE 3 KSF leather sheaths looks very nice.

The blade shape is very similar but the HEST blade thickness of the is greater at ESEE 3 ...

Do you think I can use these sheath for my HEST ?

Make sure you post the answer, too! Plenty of us have HESTs that may be interested!

I just tried my HEST in that exact same sheath and it fits perfectly.

I'm curious to see some pics as well. I was thinking about ordering one of these for my HEST but didn't want to order blind.

I can try when I get home tonight. I have that sheath for one of my 3's and I have a HEST.

I'll let you know later and try to get some pics.

Fits like a charm

I think the HEST actually fits the sheath better than the 3. Much better retention with the thicker blade. You can pull the knife up quite a bit before the retention strap on the sheath catches it, but there is no way the knife could fall out as long as the strap is snapped securely.

Just some thoughts....the fit at the mouth of the pouch looks pretty funky, it's obvious that the sheath was designed for another knife......also, would you not want some leather between you and that.......that.......ugly ice pick thingy, or whatever the hell it is??:D

You are correct about the opening. Here are some close-ups of the HEST and a 3 in the sheath. Obviously, the sheath is made for the 3 but the HEST does fit. When snapped in the knife does not move more than 1/8" left to right.

I'm not worried about the "icepick." We got along fine when all I used for a sheath was the stock kydex and paracord.

hey guys this is kind of off topic but i don't want to start a whole new thread and wasnt able to find the answer anywhere else. will the 3 fit in the standard kydex hest sheath? if so, how is the retention/fit and is there anywhere to purchase the hest sheath by itself?
