Hey guys bought my girl these two with a photon II white LED to put on her chain ... she's been getting a lot of questions at work about the legality of these items for EDC in CA. I guess I should know by now, but I don't.

Legal Eagles, Help?

Thanks!

I am not a California lawyer :D

But I bet that push dagger gets defined As used in this section, a "dirk" or "dagger" means a knife or other instrument with or without a handguard that is capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon that may inflict great bodily injury or death.

Nevertheless, many people seem to think that if it can cut, it's illegal. So I wouldn't go by what they worry about. Best advice there is not to show a weapon unless she needs to use it.

The mini pal is for sure illegal to carry concealed. Not exactly sure of the legality of the pocket stick (that stick with the tapered ends isn't a kubotan). If it's metal, I'd stop carrying it. If it's plastic ... well, dive into the laws.

And I agree with Esav, some discretion is warranted even if it is legal.

The mini baton is aluminum. The blade of the mini pal is under 2". Both were bought in a well known mall knife store in L.A.

I would say the mini batton is technically illegal under the law prohibiting metal fist loads (plastic and wood are OK). I kind of doubt anyone would hassle her over that though.

Like Joe said, the knife is illegal if carried concealed as are most fixed blades. (The one exeception is the small knives that are part of a swiss-card type tool.)

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Best regards,

Argyll
