I spoke to Aldo the other day about some 1084 and he said it would get out the door the next day, I didn't realize that meant he'd light a fire under the shipper too.
Ordered in the afternoon of the 16th, delivered around noon on the 18th. I could get used to that. Ok, so I'm practically next door geographically, it's still a couple states away.
I can't wait to give the new stuff a try. Sometime this coming week I hope. I have one more knife ordered that's coming out of 3/16 1080 then I start with the 1084. I figure I'll make a test blade or two and HT them at the same time as the 3/16, then do some testing to see how I have to adjust my tempering. I'd love to make the first one for myself, but I have two more customers waiting once I start using it and I'm already behind due to the storm knocking out power for a week. Once I finish these orders it's time to make a pair of kitchen knives as gifts for family. Yeah, 1084's not ideal for kitchen knives, but I plan to acid blacken them anyway and both recipients will care for them properly.
Anyway, props to Aldo for speedy delivery and a great conversation. Now back to the sheath for my Kith knife.
