Great little spot on Lou Dobbs on CNN on W.R. Case & Sons tongiht, and how they are "made in America".

Makes me wonder how many other knife companies still make all there knives in America????

Queen?
Schrade?

Anybody know of any?

Not sure about Queen, but I know Schrade no longer makes all their knives in America. AFAIK, the Old Timers are indeed still U.S. made. :)

To be honest, even though I like that Case is still making 'em at home, I still won't buy one until they start improving their product. Their fit-and-finish is too dodgy and their "surgical stainless" is crud. I don't suppose Lou talked about that, did he? ;)

I'm sure Case has made a few bad ones over the years, but the two I have bought in the last month were both top notch.

Perhaps Case has changed their Quality Assurance program and we are now seeing an improved product? :D

I bought a couple of stainless CASE knives about four years ago. They both sucked. About six months ago a friend of mine bought a "russ lock?" CASE and it is a very well put together folder. He says it holds a pretty good edge and is real happy with it. Based on his experiance I will probley buy a CASE in the near future. The two carbon steel CASE knives that I have owned were both made in the 60's. They were excellent.

I am just a newbie on the Case collecting group but I have bought around 20 Case knives in the last few months and only one has what I would call poor walk and talk......
It seems the smaller patterns have more problems with weak backsprings than the medium or larger patterns...
Still I can't see any real problems with the quality of Case Knives and have been very happy with my purchases!

p.s. I liked the CNN story but I would really like the Discovery channel to do a in depth story on Case! :D
The RussLock is becoming one of my favourite patterns.....a little hard to get used to at first but very cool once you get the hang of it.

Case knives are, for the most part, pleasing to the eye...they make some of the prettiest knives you'll find anywhere.

However, what my fellow Forumite said above is true....their steel is "crud"...I say this from experience gained by trying to actually use a Case rather than just look at it ;)
