A little less than a year ago, I came down with a rare spinal cord disease, transverse myelitis, that left me a hemiplegic: my left side is paralyzed, and I'm in a wheelchair. (to show you how rare this is, there are only 1400 new cases a year in the entire United States. I figure last year me and 1399 poor bastards got it).

At any rate, I'm coping fine--I'm driving now, and will return to work in a month.

What does this have to do with knives? Well I still love 'em, and buy them. About a month ago I purchased a Kershaw Barrage. Decent ergos, but by far the sharpest slicing blade I ever had in a folder.

Now one of the things I'm learning to do is to cut my food. I have a special, oversized fork for my left hand so I can hold the food steady, but it still runs off the plate if I have too much work with the knife.

Tonight my wife made turkey cutluts. I used the Kershaw as my table knife and everything went just fine. Everything sliced easy, and stayed on the plate. Another victory. Kudos to Kershaw.

Nice to read that you're doing better each day ASBOB. Kershaw is definitely awesome.
