Hi! I recently picked up a NIB Schatt & Morgan #40 Gunstock prototype. Mainly cause I liked the stag, the bolsters, and the scalloped liners. And the "prototype" aspect of it too I guess. :)

The fit and finish is great. Not too hard to pull but with good snap. The blade sharpness was lousy. For some reason every Queen I get the edges are just awful. Easy fix though. It did have a problem with the kick (is that the right term?) as neither blade would quite close all the way, leaving the tip exposed. No good when you go to get it from your pocket. Ouch.

I emailed customer service, and after a prompt reply, I sent it in. Received an email too letting me know they got it ok. After a week or so, I just got it back, and all fixed up just right. No charge.

Nice people to deal with as compared to some other companies I've dealt with, both in and out of the knife world. Sadly, customer service seems to be more and more of a "lost art" now days in average.

Joe

Good looking knife. Glad to hear they took good care of you.

That is an excellent looking knife! I love the slanted bolsters too they really go good with that pattern. Good the hear they have excellent customer service too!

+1 for sure.
I had seen this knife before, and even though I'm not a fan of stag, yet the pattern looks very nice.

I've found with stag, it seems some makers, in my opinion, leave too much material, creating a huge bulge in the center of the grip. It makes the proportions of the knife look kinda goofy to me. The last two Case knives I've purchased were this way. I bought two small gunstocks in stag and they have a huge bulge which looks odd to me on a small knife. I'm glad the Queen here wasn't too bad in that regard and looks pretty good.

One of the reasons I've looked more at jigged bone, or some type of wood for scales, on my knife purchases lately. This particular one though was the only one and it's in stag. I have a production one too I ordered after this one arrived in birds eye maple that has really clean lines. The stag or jigged bone does seem to have more character though. :)

Sorry for hijacking my own thread and getting into scale material preferences. Lol.

Thanks guys! Joe

Queen is A+ when it comes to service. Just had my Swell Center's blade wobble serviced under warranty.

Joe, I think it's only hijacking when it's someone else's thread. When it's your thread it's called changing the focus of discussion. Nice knife and good to see a company take care of someone.

Joe that is a beautiful knife. It's nice to see a production verosion of this pattern.
And nice to hear about the quality customer service.

I love the continued reports that the Daniels are doing it right. We need a successful and viable Queen Cutlery.

I'm very glad to hear that Queen's customer service is good. I need to send in one for some work.
