Has anyone removed the split ring and replaced it with a paracord fob?
If so, did the spring cut the paracord?

Pictures of your Kudu and/or Eland are welcome, of course. :)

I had it this way for some time and didnt have any problems but returned the ring on it.Excellent knives for money that perform way better than a lot of knives on market with some major reprofiling and sharpening.I reground both of these on belt sander and now they cut like razors and are easy to resharpen. The krupp steel is pretty good too.

Oh yeah! I know they are good knives that perform way above their price point. :)
I ordered another one for my birthday present to me, and it arrived yesterday.
I think this is my fourth Kudu. (The other three Kudu and two or three Eland I have are in Florida. I am presently in Idaho, so I "need" one here.)
I've never had a problem or complaint with the Krupp steel, either. :)

Did you use 550 paracord for your fobs or a smaller diameter paracord?

I used some crappy paracord and never had any problems.Try Okapi knives too, theyre not bad at all but kudu and eland are stronger and better deal for money.Okapis are more traditional and have wood handles and carbon steel and thats what i edc now.

Never been a man to tell another what to do - but why? I assume with your experience with them you have reasons - I'm just fiddling with one now.

Me? I was just thinking the fob might be a little more comfortable to use when closing it, and it would not be as bulky as that daRned splitring in the pocket.
I suppose I could replace the splitring with a 5 or 6 mm splitring and attach the fob to it and not have to worry about the fob getting cut.

It might be more comfortable, true. I like the rattle though. I do like the idea of a fob out of the pocket for quick withdrawal though. Also not sure I could spin it about as easily with a fob compared to the ring

Honestly bud it never crossed my mind to tie an actual fob to my Kudu. Just a simple ring of paradise. A single strain of 550 with zero problems. It's my lunch box/at work food knife.

I did but ended up putting the ring back on. The fob got in the way when cutting, though it carried better.

I experimented with a small loop of paracord on my first ringlock knife. It wasn’t long before I put the split ring back on it. For me, the solidness of the ring allows for the grip and control essential for one handed opening and closing.

I have heard complaints regarding the ring during blade use. I like to keep my index finger in the ring during the opening, usage, and closing of the blade. It is my favorite grip. It feels good in my hand and eliminates any ring jingle-jangle.

I put the caped crusader on the ring. He rides hanging over the pocket and makes a good puller when it’s time to take it out. We’ll see how long he stays on there.

This is what I really the idea I meant by fob, opposed to the wrapped and beaded ones - only the cheap plastic, flat ones that says AA or a car dealership.. I'd like to get a glow in the dark one actually, and have it charge outside my pocket all day

I’m glad I found this thread. Putting a pull on the ring really helps to keep the knife riding upright in the front pocket. Now I have to add keychain accessories to the growing list of my collectibles. A glow in the dark one is a good idea.
