Mine came in mail today Its a nice knife for money Except for I having trouble closing Note I am very familiar with these ring and ratchet locks As I owd several Spanish navajas with same lock set up . I can't pull this one up far enough to release blade I finely got closed after several mins of fighting with it. Its way to tight or my 67 year old hands don't have strength enough . I have never found a Spanish knife this hard to close.

Repair by trying to bend back strap or contact cold steel customer service?

I have several Kudus and haven't had a problem closing them. It sounds like there might be a bur in the locking notch in the tang or on the spring or that something is out of spec that's causing it to stick, if you had to fight that hard to get it closed. I guess it could also be that the spring on your particular one was bent too far at the factory, giving it too much tension. I think I'd just try to find the issue and fix it myself, since the knife is so cheap. It wouldn't really be cost effective to send it back to CS, by the time you paid return shipping. It's up to you, of course.

Michael, my 60 yo arthritic hands just give the ring a smart yank along with some light pressure to the spine of the blade. Never failed me yet, but yes, the spring is strong.

Well iam sending it back While trying to adjust the spring nothing seem to help . So I gave up was going to call CS to return . Struggling one last time with it TO CLOSE AND REBOX. All sudden it closed and since I was fighting with it .Hands not in proper position. Trip to EC was result stiches in index finger and thumb cut just not as bad . Now I could have bought a espada XL for what doctor bill & ER going to be. None of my Navaja's have ever cut me. All have closed easy. I got a bad one and if you get one and doesn't close easy. I suggest you leave open return to dealer or CS.

I suspect, after sharpening mine to 15° per side, that closing it on my fingers would be very uncomfortable. It is my EDC knife at the moment and I've not had any similar problems.

Sorry to hear about your accident.

Sorry to hear about that. :(. I have one and it was difficult at first but after replacing the ring with a loop of paracord it is easier to close. And also I know how you feel about the ER thing, I recently bought an 8 dollar mora 511 and a couple days after getting it I was at the hospital with stitches in my hand. The trip cost about as much as a CRK Sebenza. Live and learn I guess.

If you play with sharp toys. You will get cut sooner or later Not first time been cut . But 1st time closing KNIFE :D

Reading the last few comments makes me chuckle a little bit. I think many of us that have taken to this hobby of collecting and using nice sharp tools have experienced this from time to time. Being from Canada if I was at home a trip to the emerge is nothing because of our health care. That didn't help me when I sliced myself 3 years ago on vacation in Florida. That $20 blade ended up costing me an additional $515 for the stitches and tetanus shot.

Speedy recovery!

That's why we Americans are so fond of super glue. :D

I would like to have used super glue. Used to use it. In fact that what super glue was invented for sealing wounds Except I am on blood thinner and we couldn't get the bleeding to stop. Iam 20 miles from a hospital. I have now bought some of that blood clotting powder.

Replacement arrived in mail Night and day difference in closing . All is almost well Now I need the new bigger one.
