Adventuring with a .357 Magnum

I managed to not get the author's name

Funny, since a few days ago I had another khuk sighting, in the Oxford Illustrated Dictionary.
They had a photo of a well used (if not abused) khuk near the dictionary's 'kukri' entry.

I immediately recognized it as the khukri of Hugh McManners, featured in his "The Complete Wilderness Training Book" and "101 Essential Tips - Hiking".

I wonder, why they had chosen this particular khuk as an illustration, since it is a rusty, considerably ground down example, and the butt of the cracked horn handle is covered with black duct tape or electrical tape.

On the other hand, I have to admit, that this khukri and MacManners endorsement to its usefulness as an outdoor knife were the final arguments which convinced me to seek a useable khukuri.
I remembered that BF had this Forum, started reading, got my first khuk and now HIKV rules my brain...:( :D

Patricia Cornwall also mentions a khukri in her book about Jack the Ripper called "case closed" or something like that. I was listening to it on tape, not reading so I didn't go back and see what she was saying.

Shann...I have heard of that book...Decided to not read it as her "conclusions" really didnt apply to what most likely happened

Good book from what I heard though! :)

45-70,
The one you're refering to was written by my wife's husband & also shows the custom Puckett sheath Dwayne made for it.
Quite a nice job he did. Space is always limited & photos have to be relatively small, but I suspect the Chitlangi Bowie will also show up in print one of these days, after Dwayne builds some new leather for it. :)
Haven't noticed him here recently, is he still alive?

It was "ok". I listen to a lot of books on tape and it was fairly enjoyable. She took her conclusion and tried to make the facts fit it. The guy she accused of being the Ripper certainly sounded like a weirdo but I wasn't convinced that she was right (or wrong).
