I picked up a kuk in a trade recently and the fella had no idea who the maker was as he got it in a trade as well. If I post some pics do you think you guys/gals could tell me if it is a HI kuk?? And if so can you tell me who the Kami is??

Post the pics. If it's an HI, then someone here will be able to tell you everything you want to know about it. If it's not an HI, we still like seeing new (to us) khuks.

Here are pics of his khuk:

I am an idiot when it comes to khukris except their usefulness as a tool. Is this one of those ripoff Khuks to sell to tourists or is it an authentic blade made to work?

Tora blades have a good reputation with many admirers of their more traditional style Khukuri models, myself included.

Definitely not a ripoff if it is a Tora.

Well.......
It is an Authentic blade and made to work, It is a nice piece. But in many forumites opinion here, just not as nice as what we get from H.I. In mine and others considered opinion, however biased, You just can't beat H.I. for superior product, guarantee and customer service. Just an FYI... H.I. and Tora have been competitors for years and the relationship hasnt always been Rosy.

I believe It to be a WWI MkI khukuri which Tora sells and is currently out of stock and has been for some time.
Sending you a link Via Email.

Hope this has helped.

I had no intention of offending anyone and I apologize if I did. I was just looking for info on the Khukri I recently recieved in a trade. I will drop this as it seems to be a sore subject. Thank you all for the information provided.

LOL....
Noones offended, No apology needed. You were curious and asked a legitimate question...No harm No Foul and this will probably be moved to the cantina on the basis of this being the forum for H.I. product. we discuss all others in the Cantina at the top of this forum.

BTW i sent that link to Lupawolf, as you havent any contact info.

Also.. Welcome To You and Lupawolf to our Little corner of the internet, where you will find some of the most friendly and knowledgable Khuk Knuts anywhere. We hope you stay awhile, get to know us and maybe even get yourself an H.I. khukuri :D

Please accept my apology if you perceive my poor attempts at humour as 'sore'.

As Karda pointed out, in the past things were different. And as he also points out so well, there is a difference in the quality and style between the two manufactures.

The fact is you have a good working blade but it isn't of the higher quality of HI products.

It is my belief that this section of the HI forum is for HI products only, with discussion of other manufacturers and OT subjects being openly discussed in the adjoining "Cantina" accessable from the top of this page.

Thanks for your honest input guys. I will direct furthur questions to the Cantina. Again I was just curious as to the origin of my new steel. Thanks for your understanding.

Can you guys put this in the Cantina where it belongs?? As I said, sorry if this was not the place to post my questions. The Khukri seems to be well built so I of course thought it was a HI khuk right off the bat.

Hiya Ghostwolf,

Please do not worry or concern yourself over your interesting and informative post. It provided interest and discussion and knowledge: not a bad outcome at all. :D

One of the happy, nice and pleasant moderators will make the decision about moving it to the Cantina if or when they see fit. I am just a bloke who came here to find out about Khukuri's and instead found a community of caring and concerned folks from around the world drawn to the most special blades made by the most unique caring and concerned company, Himalayan Imports.

I hope you have the time to come and participate here so as to find out what makes HI standout from all others.

Regards,

bruce
