Here's a Kukhri I'm working on. It's my first and must say that it was quit a challenge to forge properly. Simple things like checking for straightness are a bit more difficult because of the shape with all the "waves". It is a very fun type of knife to make, the size and the feeling that you get when you hold it (I want to chop at everything within my reach) are great.
The first section of the blade from the ricasso is a flat grind which ends in a zero edge for fine cutting. The belly of the blade has a convex grind for chopping.

Ok here are some pics:

and here it is with the cable damascus guard and pommel, cocobolo grip and nickel silver spacer. It is ready for gluing and peening.

when there is progress, I'll post some pictures.

Very nice. just looking at it makes me want to chop something but I would hate to scratch it LOL. Again, really nice

Very, very nice. I've always wanted to make a khukri but I'd waste a lot of steel to do it by stock removal. When I get the forge up and running, I'll have to give it a go.

Have a good one,
Nathan

Awesome dude! That's a fine khukuri if ever I saw one.

FWIW, I am not a khuk fan at all. Part of it may be the shape of khuks; part may be the fact that I have never tried one. That said...

I love that knife. In fact, I will admit that after drooling over it for a few minutes, I looked to see if it was for sale as I frankly wanted to buy it. It is the best looking one I think I have ever seen, and it probably has a performance level on par with its looks.

GREAT job!!!

So sweet! My wild guess .. it is a 15 incher and 1/4" thick at the ricasso. Am I correct? It has a notch that can be considered as a sort of cho. I guess it is a khukuri

Thank you for showing it

I like Khukri's and that is very nice. I like that, it takes a minute for me to get used to the gaurd on there, but I do like it.

Absolutely beautiful and a very practical chopper with the convex edge. Congrats on a very difficult job very well done, not many people can make a proper kukri!!!!  :D
