Kukhri Question

Hey guys,
Just got the new cheaper than dirt catalog, and I saw that they have a kukhri in there for 24.95. It says it is the current military issue (New Unissued). I was wandering if it is the real deal or if it is just crap.

A friend gave me a Cheap "genuine" khukuri that he had gotten from cheap dirt, or bubba-k or some place. This was before I started reading this forum and before a I had heard of Himalayan imports. The edge profile was terrible, and when I checked the blade with a file I found that it had not been hardened at all. A spark test reveled that there was sufficient carbon content to be hardened. So I disassembled the knife, re-profiled the blade, heat treated, polished and reassembled. Then I did a do over of the sheath with the only part being salvageable was the wood. I now have a frailly decent knife.
And think I only invested about 25 hours of my time.
Do your self a favor and listen to the guys at the HI forum.
