Kukri Brawl

Interesting little item in today's Nepal News. Doctors at Western Pokhara Hospital re-attached the left hand of a 24-year-old man who was involved in a "kukri brawl" in Beni. Took the med team nine hours to repair what must have been a .5 second event. Even luckier - the guy can move his fingers. I've been in a couple of "beer bottle balleymoras", but a Khuk brawl sounds like something to avoid.

Walosi I agree completely!!!!
I know I sure wouldn't want anyone swinging a khukuri in my direction for any reason!!!!
It's good to hear that the docs were able to reattach the young man's hand.
I pray that it heals back better than it was before the brawl.

Khukuri brawls are somewhat common in Nepal and I've had the good fortune to stay out of them even when I was drunk and disorderly.

Of some interest to forumites, perhaps, is that our Nepali shipping staffer, Vikash, hails from a small village just to the north of Beni and is very familiar with the village of Beni.

Tha last Khukuri brawl I was in I was walking down a dark ally when three thugs tried to rob me. The lead fellow pulled out his katana and said "give me every thing you have" I said "ok don't hurt me!" and reached under my coat drawing my 18 inch AK instantly striking his blade at the hilt breaking it,turned again and hit him on the head with the spine of the AK knocking him out! Then fellow # 2 rushed me with a baseball bat. I was not able to turn my AK in my hand fast enough so I blocked with the spine and countered with a swift side kick to his right knee breaking it. When I turned to face the last would be thug he was already trying to make a run for it so I took aim and let her (AK) fly! A split second later let's just say he was face down in the gutter proped up a little from a few inches of 5160 through the chest! Then I woke up!;)

After playing with my sirupati I've come to the conclusion that it would be unpleasant to get cut with one of these. Losing a limb or two would kinda suck.

I'm glade the doctors got the man fixed up and that he can use his arm again. Loosing the use of a limb wouldn't be fun at all.

SkagSig40, I've had dreams simaller to that before. But I normally get into gun fights. Mostly always win. :)

Heh heh! Nice one. Sounded like Delta Force XXI towards the end ;)

I remember Jean-Claude Van Damme did use a Khukuri in one of his older films (Cyborg) and both Anthony Hopkins and Keanu Reeves did some mean strokes with Khukuris in Bram Stoker's Dracula.

......sound like you've been eating chili reallanos for bedtime snacks. Later on in life, you'll learn the benefits if cookies and milk

There's another active thread asking about the khukuri as a weapon. I've got to reference this thread.
