kukri ( just for the heck of it)

here is a picture of a kukri I just finished for a friend...Well he talked fo out of it.

Blade: 3/16" L6 21 5/8" along spine 13" cutting edge
Handle: about 30' black paracoard, good grip
Sheath: Hand sewn 8-9oz Leather dyed with iron vinegar
Finish: a combonation of acid etch and gun blue

One mean chopper, Don't let this one slip!

I have a comment-that's AWESOME! :D It looks like very clean work, but rugged at the same time. And that wrap looks nice and tight.

I like the "forward curving" (I think that's what they call it on the HI Forum) shape as well.

I think the world needs more custom khuks...... :)
 
Thanks, ExMB, Iron vinegar is really nothing more than clean steel wool disolved in (in this case)cider vinegar. I think white will also work. After about a week you have an excelent black dye. Although it dosen't look it in the bottle. It has a chemical reaction with the leather (vegetable tanned) will in about 20 sec turn blue black.
 
Serious looking Khukri there! I also like L6 for your choice of steel for that piece.., nice work!
