I recieved an early Christmas gift from a friend. He gave me a Kukri knife that is very old looking, the blade its selft is shiny and sharp. It has a couple of knicks out of it. The handle is dark brown wood with silver dots that look like they are tiny metal rods that go though the handle to make a design. On the end of the handle it is worn but looks like a lion or an animal of some kind. The blade is shiny like I said with inlays? of what looks like a sun or a flower. There is a little rust where the blade meets the handle. The scabbard feels like its wood with a leather outter wrap on it. The scabbard looks like it has been there and back again. I am interested in any coments or question any may have about this Kukri knife. Please fill free to email me @ cjakeene04@earthlink.net
Thank You

I think they are the most amazing knife design in history!
Superb choppers/hackers for wood work or war.

Welcome to BFC!
You might do better to ask in the Himilayn Imports sub-forum.
While H.I. makes their own kuhkri's the guys there are really well informed on all ethnic blades and you will be welcomed.

To me it sounds like you have what is a tourist piece. Most of the ones with the lions head are not meant for use. The sheath is tradionally made with leather over a wooden base.

If you could post a pic it would help a lot.

Just a question, IrishSEAL :

Ya posted fourth the same message on this forum (blade discussion forum, european community, asian & australian community, and himmalayan import)...
I responded ya yesterday in the european section, and today i receveived a spam of a kukri-seller on the email I use for this forum...
So my question is : are you a spammer, or is it an incredible coincidence???
