Hello all,

1st time poster, long timer lurker. Looking for info. About ten years ago I started using a Cold Stel light weight ATC for camping, hunting, etc. Shortly after I purchased a Cold Steel S.S. ATC and a Blackjack S.S. Reinhardt Kukri (nylon sheath). I decided it is time to retire the lightweight and start using one of the big boys. They are both still brand new . I'm going to sell the other one. I'm looking for opinions on which to sell and which to use. I've exhausted search on several forums trying to find an approximate value on either knife. Any comments would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Welcome seb127, I have owned many khukuris and similar styles such as an ATC by Cold Steel, a Machax, the Reinhart by Blackjack, Al Mar's Pathfinder, Benchmade Viper [I think that's correct] and even a couple of customs, the Randall Sasquatch, and Gil Hibben's @ Manti Utah.

After alot of cuts, some serious & some minor. I have some strong opinions. First treat Khukuris with extra respect!! The geometry of the knife requires LESS effort than a machette to achieve twice the result. They are work horses. The best of all of them are the handmade, forged in Nepal, purchased from Himilayan Imports & and guaranteed for life. They are in the forums under "makers/mfgs". It is tough to say which is the best because it is a individual "feel". I use the Reinhart, and have 5 of the HI. If you what a heavy chopper, a Anghola from HI is your ticket. I have a 16 inch and a 20 inch for the big stuff. There are liter and some with different balance points but I don't want to get too detailed. You can get an idea just by reviewing the threads.

I don't think a Khukuri can be abused, that's why I keep one in the garage, and one in the truck for hard work. I still use a hatchet, and have some fine folders and fixed blades, but I love the Himilayan Import Khukuris. All the best!:)

HI khuks are awesome. And you couldn't do business with a better guy than Uncle Bill. Sorry, that's not really an answer to your question. Good luck.

Hi Seb,

Welcome to the forums. Your Reinhardt is probably the more valuable of the two. Here is a link to some info about it's worth.

Sams and SilverFoxKnows have made an excellent suggestion about Himalayan Imports khukuris. Come over and check out the forum.

You might also want to check out the Khukuri FAQ .

Regards,
Greg
