Is there anyone out there that has actually tried to baton with a large kukri? This is one of my most common large blade activities and I was wondering how kukris perform in this capacity. 10 bonus points :D if you have video as I have not found one on Youtube yet.

I had a Ka-bar khuk that batoned just fine, its since been traded. because of the back swedge/ bevel it did chew up the baton, but I understand that is normal, and I also whacked that thing through some decently big wood with no ill effects,(to the blade, the timber didn't survive)

Did you position the wood on the flat toward the tip or across the arc (sorry I don't know the nomenclature for the kukri)?

I held mine so that the "longest" part of the blade was level, with the handle lower than the blade. this gave a level striking surface for saftey

I have batoned many, many a log with a kukri. Just do it like you would with a normal knife. Hold it so that the tip is parallel with the handle and baton away

I have used a khukri to baton logs many times, they do an excellent job. Baton with confidence.

Thanks all for your input. I may just have to drop some cash on a kukri now. By the way, the 10 point earned by Yorkshire Boy are totally redeemable at WalMart for their designer plastic grocery bags. They even say WalMart on them! :)
