First, how big were original Kukris carried by Gurkhas? Second, who makes the best Kukris, and why do you like those models?

Scroll about 1/2 down the page and you'll find the WWII Ghurka khukuri models. Himalayan Imports

IMO, Himalayan imports produces the most authentic versions of these tools. I personally prefer the 15" Ang Khola. Great all-around chopper for the campsite.

What is an "original kukri?" The ones they carried in WW-I are not the same as the ones they carried in Afghanistan. The knives now are more for field use and less for close combat. An average WW-II model would have been around 12 to 13-inches in blade length.

Original as before they joined the British army? Villagers could wield 18-20"
After they join the British and Allied forces? from 12-18" Sirupatis, British Army Service and their preference depending on where they originated. Each region in Nepal has a special shape.
Who makes the best khukuris? plenty of them. I like Himalayan Imports, Torablades and if i have the dough i might have scored the Busse TTKZ.

I like MOST of the models. Just that i'm running out of place to hide them!
