I just ordered this sheath from:
http://www.knifecenter.com/indexes.html
Part #: CS35AKSH
Cold Steel Concealex Sheath For Gurka Kukri
The kukri sheath arrived today--4/23/04
Description:
1-made from molded 3mm Kydex
2-color -black
3-15 rivets/screws around perimeter
4-Large belt loop triple stitched with a button and velcro closure
5-Belt loop is attached to sheath with 4 screws
6-part #--CS35AKSH
7-cost $34.95
8-shipping-$8.95
9-It appears to be nearly indestructible and very light weight
I believe it will hold any style Kukri that is not over 3 inches in height measured from the spine to the edge and not over 12 inches in length from the tip of the blade to the start of the bolster.
My 17 1/4 inch Ganga Ram by Bura fits perfect with it's 11 1/4 inch blade.
My Koth is 19 1/2 inches in length with a 14 inch blade and it goes into the sheath but 1 1/2 inches sticks out of the top of the sheath. I would not hesitate to carry it in this sheath as the kydex holds the blade firmly and no blade edge is exposed.
I am extremely happy with this product and it is exactly what I have been searching for to field carry a kukri.
Possible negative:
I suspect the Kydex would deform if left close to a campfire and would probably melt if put into flames.
