Good Afternoon everyone!

So i have a 15 inch 30 ounce M43 and i love the knife. I have not purchase a knife in a while and was wondering if there is any knife between the 15-18 inch range, With a wide blade like the m43, But with a thinner spine(So that it is a lighter knife, closer to the weight of a chainpuri or kobra). Any Suggestions.?

I've seen some dui chirra, yek chira, etc. here by Purna and Thamar similar to what you want, something around 23-28 oz (of course there are the 30 oz+ ones). A few folks here possess such blades in question so they can pitch in.

I'm not an expert in HI blades, but I'm not aware of any production models matching your specs. That sounds like a custom order item. Also sounds like a combative blade. With such a broad but thin blade it would probably cut very well, especially if you got very shallow bevels. That might affect its performance as a wood chopper, but if it's a combative blade then that isn't a big deal.

edit: DarthTaco is right. I was just thinking of my Chainpuri which is 15 inches and 16 ounces, which seems to be one of the lighter Chainpuri to be sold lately.

Yek, Dui, and Tin are the style you are looking for. Thamar tends to be a bit lighter in builds. Purna tends to have superior fit and finish. I have several from both Kami's.

I think some of the KLVUKs would match your desired specs. They look rough but are just as well built as the fancier models, and the price is right. The KLVUK model is not at the HI online store, but are often available on this forum as DOTD.

Do a search on "KLVUK" and you'll find examples here.

If you like it, I suggest sending an email to Yangdu asking if she has one in stock.

Here are a few Thamar Chirras - light ones at 18" and 23 ounces. I think the light colored one is a few ounces over the dark one (maybe 25?). These are not very common in this weight tho. Never know what Aunti Y has laying around?

A bit off topic, but I noticed one of the rescue workers in Nepal was carrying what appeared to be a smallish kukri in a belt sheath. Looked traditional.
