Do any of you folks know of any half decent reasonably priced kukris that are sold out of canada?
I don't want to Import one because I've heard customs are seizing a lot of knives and my living situation is great for waiting for a long delivery. 2 places in the us that I've contacted refuse to ship to me.
So far my considerations have been the condor heavy duty and the EGKH. They stock some in canada and offer fast delivery.
The condor has the shape I really like but I would probably have to file the profile of the blade and make it a bit sharper as I've heard they're quite blunt out of the box. Not ideal but would make it my own as long as I can get it nice and sharp.
The EGKH are cheap and used to make so.e decent blades but it looks as though quality has gone way down hill recently with problems such as cracked blades, handles coming loose and soft steel so I'm beginning to doubt those.

If anybody has any good suggestions or ideas then fire away
Thanks

I'd want to use it as a working blade.

Have you checked with Himalayan Imports? They have a subforum here and make some of the best traditional khukuris I've seen in a number of different sizes and weights. Their KLVUK models are the perfect working khuks. Great people to do business with too.-KV

You shouldn't have any issues with a Kukris being imported into Canada. The problem is with folding knives being seized, but fix blades are A OK. Many dealers in the US etc don't know it's just folders. If you are looking for a legit one a good place to look is actually antique stores. I've seen dozens of them in them over the years.
