I am trying to obtain guenuine issue kukris with cert of authenticity in the U.K
I was directed to Atlantic cutlery corp for $25.99 with all documents, but I am not sure how good these kukris are.
The general impression is Gurkha house makes good kukris but I have little to no Idea which is the best kukri at the best price.
Any Ideas ?

I am not going to tell you where to buy a khukuri, but I will share my direct experience with you. Some time ago I bought one of those "genuine" khururis as sold by Atlanta Cutlery. It is a piece of junk. Do not waste your hard-earned sterling on it.
I now own khukuri's made in Nepal, some sold through Himilayan Imports, some sold by Ghurka House. They are the genuine article, and will perform in a most satisfactory manner.

Roblarson,

Just checked the forum, and saw your post. As far as "genuine issue" khukuris, there are all kinds.

However, for "genuine issue" Nepalese khukuris, Lalit makes and sells about 200 of the SN1s for use by Nepalese serving with the British.

I don't offer any "documentation" like Atlanta Cutlery, but I can tell you that if the khukuris made by Atlanta Cutlery (they have their own factory) are used by the Indian Army, I'd love to see an Indian armed with his khukuri fight a Nepali armed with his! :0

The only difference between the SN1s that Lalit sells and the ones that I sell is that our GH logo is affixed to our blades, and the "issue date" seems to have dropped off, though I do have a couple of SN1s lying around that are marked just like they are issued (with the date of issue and the word "Nepal."

I hope I've been helpful.

Atlanta Cutlery's "documentation" is an old shop drawing probably from WWII era. The blade they sell does not match the shop drawing! For example the drawing shows a fullered blade, and the "khukuri" itself is a flat piece of steel(or something close to it).

Thanks for that bit of info - now I don't feel so bad publicly trashing the AC "khukuri" (khukuri written in quotes for obvious reasons).

Craig, that is exactly the khuk that I bought at a gunshow some years back. It was marked on the leftside near the handle with "NEPAL 1994" I always wondered where it came from. It was a good khuk. Sold it to a freind at work for $50. Did I jip my self or just give him a good deal?

You did fine. If it had the same dimensions as the Service Number One, it was, in all likelihood, a Service Number One. It probably was never issued to a Gurkha, or else he'd probably still have it (being that it was a 1994 model). But even sight unseen, I'd say it was from Khukuri House. And given inflation, he paid just about what he'd have paid if he bought it from me.

Where did you get it if you don't mind me asking?

Roblarson,

I got a Kukri of Craig a few weeks back. Good knife, great price & no problems with customs.

I now have several more on order.

I'd say get one and see what you think.

PC does in fact have some on order (in the "Christmas order." I only hope they make it here in time for me to mail out for Christmas.

To date, I have only had trouble with one country: South Korea. For some reason, a guy ordered two panawals, and they didn't clear customs. I got the knives back, and the guy was obviously pretty bummed out.
