Hey everyone. Sorry I know I have bombarded these boards with this or that questions but I am having trouble settling on a knife. Since I can only really afford one for now I want to make sure its the right one. I know its a matter of preference but I still would like opinions. I am looking at this point at the BM930 kulgera and the mini skirmish. Any commentary on one vs the other? Thanks!

I don't have either, but I've handled both.

What is the purpose of the purchase? For EDC, I'd recommend the Kulgera. I think the size of it is better for EDC. The Skirmish is a huge knife. It uses a framelock, but the handle is of Titanium.

They're both very nice.

This is going to be my EDC. however it is going to be my only knife and i want something reliable and tough that can go with me anywhere and also something that will stay nice looking longer (anyone know g10 vs Ti?).

I would probably say the Skirmish is a tougher, more rugged knife. The Kulgera could probably "go with you anywhere" due to its slimmer, smaller, lighter profile. I don't know which would stay looking better longer, though. The G10 is colored, and it's actually more slippery than your average black G10 scales.

For EDC, I'd say go with the Kulgera unless you're cutting big things a lot... The Skirmish is just too big for EDC imo.

The mini Skirmish is a LOT of knife in a small and slender package, when folded. Not so sheeple friendly, if that's an issue. However, it's an awesome knife and it's bullet proof. It and the Ritter Griptilian are my main EDC's (they trade off). I also carry an SAK for the small jobs.

any more thoughts on this one? how about the toughness of steel/g10 vs the titanium? and do they show much wear?

I couldn't tell you, as I've not had knives of either handle material. I would imagine that it would be easier for the coloring of the Titanium to rub off eventually, but I could be completely wrong.

The Skirmish is Just a better knife all around in my opinion, I've had both. And the skirmish Might be Big, Even the smaller one is big, but the TI makes it super light, and super Strong, and Frame locks are my favorite, because, they CAN'T come unlocked while in use because the tighter you are working the knife, the tighter the lock is holding. And the Skrmish Blade has nice Grinds and a good Belly for EDC, and if you are into MBC, or SD with you knife is would be as good as any knife marketed for that purpose, Better. You might want to check out the Rukus too, I have one in my hand right now, and it's a do it ll type knife, and you can change the handle scales, and flip it with the axis lock all around like an auto or balisong for fun. But as for you 2 choices I'd say Skirmish all the way.

For longevity of good looks and EDC go anywhere I'd pick the 930 over the 635. G-10 tends to hold up better than titanium and I like the blade that comes on it.

Now for a really interesting combo, I just read a limited edition of the 930's being produced with a BK coated PE blade. Now THAT would be very cool.

That's my vote!

I like the 930. I think you would enjoy it more for EDC because of its weight. Both are nice but the 930 is real smooth. GOOD LUCK! Kevin

Looking at the specs. of the two knives in question. The Kulgera has a 3.6 blade. The Mini Skirmish has a 3.43.blade. Kulgera is 8" oal and the Mini Skirmish is 7.73 oal.
The kulgera is .47 thick in the handle. The Mini Skirmish is .435 in handle thickness. The Kulgera weighs 3 oz and the Mini Skirmish weighs 3.92. Extra weight of the Mini Skirmish is the solid titanium handle instead of g-10 over steel.

I would sway towards the Mini Skirmish personally as I like the belly in the knifes blade and I think that you will find varied finishes available to choose from. A variation without coatings on either blade or handle would tend to stay looking nice longer IMHO.
I think you will have to decide which you like better and run with it. I only have experience with the full size Skirmish, but I love it. Its thin nature makes it carry easily. Then again I think the RUKUS is a nice EDC also.;)
Good luck choosing. Both seem good choices either way you go.

Pretty different knives- Kulgera is plenty of knife, much more pocket friendly, I would guess. I really liked the way it felt in my hand at the store, would've gotten it if not for the price, so I'll be checking the web.

For me, even the Mini-Skirmish is too big and heavy for EDC, and definitely not sheeple friendly. Really all depends on your taste and what you're looking for. Of course, they're so different that if you like them both, you'll probably end up with both!

Really sweet, but ya the thumb stud is tricky to open. But no biggie.
