This is a new design that I have been working on called the “Kuma”. The "Kuma" is designed to be a lightweight EDC defensive blade that is highly optimized for efficient cutting and ease of penetration. These are a bit tricky to grind, but the end result is well worth the effort!
The blade is made from solid 1/8" 154CM, hardened to 58 - 59 HRC. I performed all heat treating and tempering operations using my digitally controlled oven. 154CM is an outstanding stainless steel that exhibits good toughness and edge holding characteristics. The blade has very fine two tone satin finish that is both attractive and practical. The blade features a dagger hollow chisel grind; both edges are razor sharp! I cannot over emphasize how well this knife cuts and penetrates!
The handle is exceptionally comfortable in either standard or reverse grip. The handle is skeletonized, making the knife even lighter. The wrap is nylon and is impregnated with epoxy to prevent unraveling or moisture retention. The under wrap is a choice piece of forest green sting ray skin and the menuki is a highly detailed dragon.
If you are looking for a lightweight EDC blade that is optimized for aggressive cutting, the Kuma is a great choice!
