Kurki knives

So you want a khuk made by a custom knifemaker?

Traditional style, check the Himalayan Imports forums.

Modern style. THIS is EXACTLY what you're looking for.

Those are all really nice. Only thing is they are too nice. I would feel bad beating the hell out of it. I need something that will withstand everything I can do to it. Preferably carbon steel.

Then you should take a good look at Bill's Khukri. The blades are 5160. They are tough and very reasonably priced. You are unlikely to find a custom Khuk that will fit your requirements better than one of his.

I you want to beat the hell out of a Carbon steel khuk. Get a HI :D

Himalayan Imports khuks come with a mirror finish unless you get a "villager" model which is rougher.

But be assured you can beat the piss out of them for multiple lifetimes. They are 5160 and the full tang models are virtually indestructible.

Just for example my "balance" is 18" OAL, 1/2" thick at the spine and weighs 36 ounces. It hits like a freight train and I doubt I am physically capable of ever damaging it.

If the heat treat is right I don't think you can do any better than 5160 for a carbon steel kukhri and it's got a G10 grip that'll hold up better than wood. I would say Bill Siegle's is perfect for an all conditions user, if it fits your budget. It's a very fair price for a hand made chopper.
