Hi folks!

I'm a total newb here, but this seems like a good place to find out some info on a knife I've got, so here goes...

I picked this up in the mid-to-late '80's at a gun show. What I'm wondering is if anyone has any info on it, like what kind of steel it is, when and how many were made, maybe what it's worth (it's not for sale, though) and if anyone else has one. I'm assuming the hamon is acid-etched, but I'd love to be wrong.

It's a great blade, just under 6 ", and the sheath is pretty neat, too. It has belt loops on either side and 2 slightly concave spring steel leaves in between the layers of leather for retention.

Thanks for looking,

Charles

ooh, that's a japanese production knife either commissioned by or imported by Pacific Cutlery, which at that time focused mainly on balisongs, but broadened and eventually became the company Benchmade. So it probably has some collector value. You might check the Bernard Levine sub-forum, someone there will have more definitive information.
