Kuzan Oda

Kuzan Oda apprenticed with Yoshindo Yoshihara and is a licensed swordsmith
now living in Japan. I hear he has had a table at the San Francisco sword
show.

Thank you very much. I couldn't find much in a web search and he's not listed in Knives2006. I remember him as a very nice man from his days in Colorado Springs and his experiments smelting iron from river sand.

The last I had heard some time ago, he was living the hermits life(his favorite type) up in Alaska, then never heard another word about him.

I did see some of his knives on a Japanese site a couple of years ago.

Little guy, green, strong with the force?

Actually, Y. Oda's a cousin on his mom's side, Tracy. Big family. Speaks funny in Japanese, too. :D

Mike, thanks for the Alaska info. I didn't know that part. Must'a been some good iron-bearing rocks up there! I found one of his pieces on the 'net; rather surprised when it turned out to be a somewhat Loveless-style fighter when I was expecting something traditional.

YW! He was another maker that "worked" with Loveless for awhile early on, so the influence is there, I guess. Sort of like with Steve Johnson who also worked with him. Can't help but have an influence on design.
