I saw a kwaiken that Matt did a few weeks back, and I loved everything about it.
We emailed back and forth, and today I received this W2 kwaiken with Honduran Rosewood and resin-soaked cord wrap. The included ultrasuede-lined kydex sheath is also very well done, not even the slightest wiggle or sound when it slips in and out.

Really nice - I have two of these from Matt and find them really well done. Compact, portable and sharp as hell. And I think they are great-looking, too.

Very Nice!

A great gift idea.....for me!

I'm gettin one too :)

Matt makes excellent kwaikens, I was lucky enough to snag one of his
cord wrapped rayskin pieces and agree with Roger.
Portable, sharp and great looking.
The ultra suede lined sheaths are a marvel as well.

For you guys that have Matt's Kwaiken, did you get the in-waistband sheath as well? I'm trying to see how it carries, but I can't seem to figure it out. Never carried in-waistband before.

Great blade gooey  What a beauty!

As for the in waistband sheath... I can't say I've tried it with a knife like that, but I will say this, tucking a wooden tanto inside the belt of my belt and hakama at the dojo when training can be a little incommodious. That may work better on the outside, horizontal, scout carry.

I figured as much, but Matt said he's worn something like this in-waistband and it's barely noticeable. Maybe I'm too short and fat, lol.

Not sure about your dimensions, but you are pretty funny--and have great taste in knives! I'm curious to hear about how the in waist band works out... pics maybe? I just can't seem to make it work comfortably.

Hey bud!!!! Just found this thread!!!

Edge side should face forward when you put this into your waistband, BETWEEN your trouser seam and underwear, with the belt loop out so you can run your belt through it. Yes, I know... It sounds uncomfortable. It'll feel weird for two days. After that, I never even noticed it. That in itself can have problems, if you don't remember there's places you can't or shouldn't carry it!!!:D

My shop is in shambles right now, as I'm in the process of rearranging everything to make space for some new tools, but the toxic green handled kwaiken from hell needs one of these straps made before it goes out. I'll try and make a video of how I wear this before it ships. Hope it'll help.

...I'm not quite as skinny as I was a year ago, btw. My weight shifts in the opposite direction from everyone else. I get fat during the hot summer, because both the dog and I can't hack the heat, so no trail running, just hiking. Both of us are looking a little roll-y, right now, actually.;) Cool weather coming soon!

Ah, come on, Matt.
We know it all turned to muscle.
Looking forward to seeing ye in Joey P's Powerlifters Events Knife Show images. :D

Congrats, gooeytek, on a very nice score !
Great work as always, Matt.

...yeah, Doug, about that muscle...

Pretty sure I could be featured as a dumbbell in Joey's powerlifter events. :D

Right now I look like a handful of popsicle sticks with a pile of chewing gum stuck all over it. It'll trim off the moment the temps drop back below the forties. I'm such a heat weenie...

Here's a couple of other shots of this knife:

Thanks for the kind words, gang!

Gooey,
Almost zaxly what I told him.
"I'm too old and fat."

Matt sure makes some handsome knives. The wood on this one blows my mind.

All right, so my dumb ass got a few minutes cobbled together to show how this sheath works. Hope this helps, gang!
