i was inspired by the recent joe paranee threads and kwaikens posted by great makers to try making one. it has a 7" 1095 blade with a 600 grit hand pulled finish and a fuller. copper habaki with the rainfall or cat scratch pattern in a wave shape. nickel silver guard. the tang has thin curved birch slabs on each side, to give the handle a slight oval shape. rayskin and brown wrap. the wrap was CA glue impregnated, and is rock solid. the habaki and guard were press fit and sealed with epoxy to prevent and moisture from getting in there. the sheath is leather. it has two "mouse ears" with rayskin and an eyelet. the one near the tip is for a static line, the one near the throat can be used to lash to a belt, or for a safety keeper. the cord can be unknotted on one side, put around the handle, and back through the eyelet. the knife can be drawn and as it pulls out, the unknotted cord will slide through the eyelet with tension until it pulls through and the knife is free. ( as in the second to last photo). the belt frog / kurigata is very sturdy. there is an oval copper plate between the rayskin and leather, and it is peened over. thanks for looking and taking the time to read my long description
