I thought this looked like a cool knife but when I got it, it felt like a brick in my hand. So, with inspiration from Cousin Jack (a knifemaker who used to post here) I went to work
- ground in two finger-grooves, similar to the Gerber Covert
- rounded the butt
- added jimping to the finger-grooves and butt
- contoured the scales, to add grippiness
- ground away some metal in the tang under the scales to make it less handle-heavy, so the balance point is just between the index and middle fingers

NOW this thing is one sweet and evil rib-tickler! I heartily recommend this mod to anyone with the equipment or time. It is very agile and both comfortable and secure in any grip. Nasty!!

Very nicely done. I thought I would really enjoy the Kwaito, but the handle killed it for me. The back had a sharp angle that really cut into the hand. The mod looks very nice!

Got my Kwaito yesterday and worked on it today during the snowstorm. Dremeled a finger choil directly under the first screw and rounded the sharp butt end - left the top jimping alone. Still need to texture the scales but am worried about the dust. Did the finger choil and round butt on the scales while standing outside in the high winds and snowstorm, all the time holding my breath while dremeling so I thinking I'm Ok there. It didn't take very long for that but I think texturing might be a different story, generating a lot more dust especially with a dremel. Any suggestions?
