KELT34 told me in another post that you may be able to help me find a good training blade. I've practiced martial arts for most of my life and currently practice Kosho-Ryu Kempo and Jui-Jutitsu and I am now getting involved in escrima. Also any thought on a replacement for a Buck Protege.

I agree that Bob's (aka EDGES2) training blades are the best. By the way, if you want a trainer for your daily carry knife, Bob does great custom work too. His stuff is incredible.

The hand is getting better slowly, but the Occupational Therapy is PAINFUL!!! Right about now I'm wishing we'd been using one of Bob's blades that night

Respectfully,

Dave Fulton

King Tut,

Is the Buck Protege a folder or a fixed blade? If it's a folder, you can find a good replacement from Spyderco or Benchmade. They make good tactical folders. There are many models. Go to a knife store and find one that feels right in your hands. Here are a few folders that many people have said are good:

Spyderco Delica
Spyderco Endura
Benchmade AFCK
Spyderco Police
REKAT Carnivore
Benchmade 710
CRKT Crawford/Kasper
Benchmade Stryker
etc., etc.

Thank you for the advice.

Of the folders K Williams mentioned, in my opinion the CRKT/Kasper KFF is the most knife for the money. You get them around USD 50, and they are built like a tank. A Benchmade Pinnacle is also exceptionally strong due to its Mono Lock/Frame Lock. CRKT does Frame Lock models as well. Not as expensive as a Reeves Sebenza.

Some very good, very resonably priced trainers can be obtained at www.warriorcraft.com this is Guro Ray Dionaldo's site, Ray will make what ever you need, if you don't see it, ask. FYI Guro Ray is also one of the highest ranked Sayoc instructors in the world.

Dave Fulton--I'm glad to hear that your hand is healing well.

Recently I cut myself playing with my knives and I now realize the importance of what you said abt "respecting the blade".

I am now working on smoothness and control rather than raw speed, which was making my movements a bit uncontrolled.

Best wishes from SYK

Dave:

I have putting your name in at the healing section of prayers when I lead (or attend). Glad to read that you are healing, regardless of what may be responsible for it!

Keep it up!
