I worked a little overtime earlier this year and decided to reward myself with a new knife. As y'all know, John of JK Knives likes to make customer designs. So I sent a design his way and received the Ky Fieldmate last week. I wanted a neck/pocket knife to carry hiking and hunting, and as a side benefit I believe it will be a great EDC.
Specs: 6" oal, 2 1/2" blade, 7/8" tall, out of 3/32" O1
I took it out in the yard before lunch for a few minutes today, and made a couple trap notches and a fuzz stick.
I really like this size and handle shape. I was a little anxious to see how the handle would turn out, but John's profile on it works great. Very comfortable and fills your hand without being too big.
I think this will end up being my favorite knife to carry when out roaming the woods. Not too big yet not so small as to be uncomfortable to use.
