Figured I'd just do one post with photos of our family's Ky State Park visits this year. We are participating in the Ky State Parks Family Adventure Quest- http://parks.ky.gov/family-adventure-quest/default.aspx link if you want to check it out. Basically they send you a booklet of things to do or photograph at Ky State Parks. This year has a Daniel Boone theme since it's his 280th birthday, along with the state parks systems 90th.

I'll update photos and visits here, so they are all in one place.

Our most recent trip was to Pine Mt. State Park. We hiked to chained rock- a place where local folklore ended up becoming a reality.

For scale-

Pine Mt. Lodge

Earlier trip to Natural Bridge State Park

Old Mulkey St. Historic Site- Daniel Boone's youngest sister is buried here

I kicked around a lot in quite a few of the Kentucky state parks and some national parks in the area as well. Cave Run is close to Morehead Ky and is a 8500 square acre lake that has a musky hatchery very near by. I bought a book at Duttonhoffers book store in Cincy Oh. that covers almost all of the KY parks and rec areas. Ky has an incredible # of parks that should float anybodys boat what ever you steer. There are HP restricted lakes/ponds plus some electric motor only powered lakes. I have a 5HP Gamefisher O/B plus a transom mount electric TM for those lakes restricted to electric motors or oars/paddles only.

Yes, that's two trees growing. It amazes me seeing trees growing in rock like that.

Cool, looking forward to more trip pics.

Cool - chained rock,eh?

I'll bet there is an interesting story behind the decision to install the chain.
