Kydex and Lasers?

whenever i do a flashlight sleeve, for customers, i always remove their battery and bulb so that there's no possibility of it being damaged by the heat of the kydex. i might have to do a piece for a handgun while the laser sight is attached. unlike a flashlight, i won't be able to remove all the little parts that i'm worried about. does anybody have experience wrapping hot kydex around lasers? encounter any problems? damage to the equipment?

thanx.

Personally, I'd leave some extra Kydex in that area and press without the laser. Then add the laser, heat that area with a heat gun, and finish it by hand. You won't need as much heat that way and you won't have to worry about damaging wires and rubber switches. I won't even put something like flashlight in a press.

Guys
here is the trick i use when i have to form around something "weird"
make a plastic "Pattern" that way the original part can't get damaged!! yes it an be a real pain in the butt but that way you only have to make the 1 pattern 1 time forever!! i have done this with the "Superknife" ,several "Butterfly" knives,Flashlight's..it takes a while to make a real good "pattern" but i have found for me it is worth the trouble.. if i ever want to make a "Batch" it is easy .
