Kydex belt sheaths for the clipless Sifu? Or clip installed?

I understand there was/ is an aftermarket kydex belt sheath available for the Sifu. I have one without pocket clip. I am particularly interested in the "breakfront" type. Any leads?

Christina M.: can a clipless model be sent back to the factory to have a pocket clip installed? And for TIP DOWN carry? Please e mail me if you prefer. Thanks.

Nakano, since there is unlikely to be an offical reply until after the Shot Show, I thought I'd jump in & try to help. IIRC, Mike Sastre had made some belt sheaths for the Sifu. Also, I remember Jim March posting a design that he had developed for one if you feel in a do-it-yourself mood.

I've been meaning to post a Sifu clip question for ages.

Can I buy a clip seperately (and get it shipped to me by a friend over your way as REKAT wouldn't send to the UK)?

I also have a clipless Sifu. I'd like to know if the Sifu clip is like the Pioneer? Presumably, if it was all I'd have to do to fit a clip would be to drill a small hole in the G10 above one of the pivot screws.

Any ideas?

Cheers -

Kallisti.

Just the idea of a sheath for the Sifu began to intrigue me when I read your post, so I pulled open my "stuff" drawer and pulled out an old Alessi Holsters "Ghost", which I use for small autos and revolvers. It a small leatherpouch, with Alessi's Nyclip belt clip and two "ears" on the body side to keep contents away from body/undershirt. Alessi's catalog says it works with "40 handguns, and still counting". Add one big knife. This is a rough side in, ambidexterous inside the waistband holster. It can be worn in front of or behind either hip, and the knife tilted to either side for crossdraw, etc. I haven't worn it enough to know what wear the G-10 will inflict on the leather, but suspect it will be minimal Thanks for stirring up the old grey matter - thought I'd pass it along.
BTW, my Sifu has the clip. Inserted in the holster for point up carry, it doesn't seem to interfere. In point down position, the clip is down into the holster and does drag when drawn. I don't know yet if this can be cured by practice, or if clip removal would be called for.

No word from REKAT yet.

Thanks for the link Jim.

Kallisti, you are better off using a clip from Spyderco or BM as a 3 screw mount is a bit stronger. And you wouldn' t need to dig out one of that somewhat rough looking hole to fit Rekats clip. I think I will go this way if I can' t find a kydex belt sheath that suits my intended uses.

Walosi, if I recall correctly, Lous Ghost model is his rendition of the known pager pal, yes? But I' ll need an outside the belt sheath. I already have a SS IWB that takes up all the IWB room.

Just a little additional on the Alessi Ghost holster/Sifu... I bit the bullet and removed the clip. I just can't draw the knife from a pocket as quickly as I would like. My Spydie Wegner comes off the clip with almost no effort, and much faster.

Nakano: The Ghost doesn't compare with the Pager Pal - it is rigidly mounted on the belt with Lou's nylon Talon clip. Catalog description says the clip resembles a pager clip, but it doesn't move up above the waistband when drawing. Now that I've worn the combo two days with out the clip, I'm looking for my epoxy to fill the screw holes

Nakano,

I'll be doing some things for the SIFU and other REKAT products after I get a little breathing room from doing Pikunis and the upcoming Pigmy Warriors. Breakfronts are defintely doable - pivot up or down, depending on what grip you want to use initially.

Sounds good. However, one of the reasons I was into the REKAT clip
was/is because the clip would be so simple to mount (although you didn't
directly say I'm assuming the clip arrangement is the same as the
Pioneer - i.e. one hole in the G10 and the pivot screw holding the clip
in place).

I also like the idea of having a "Sifu" clip as opposed to any other.
The Spyderco Military clip might be nice though. This seems to then
bring up the question of how to thread the G10 (and liner?).

Also if REKAT/Spydie sell the clips seperately.

Yours inquiringly

Mike, that really is great news! Please keep me/ us up to date as soon as any developments occur. Thank you.

Kallisti, my pocket clip suggestions was made based on the way the Sifus are normally clipped. The original Pioneer series had the clips mounted right thru the blade pivot pin. tip down carry. But I don' t think or know if the Sifus pivot pins are long enough (enough contact threads)to accomodate the extra space that their pocket clip will add. But you still would need that little "hole" to stabilize the clip!! Additionally since the Sifu is a particularly long folder, the position/ location desired for the pocket clip can be had at a high or lower mount if mounting at the butt end.

If one is unsure or not handy with tools, then a trip to a machine shop, or even better a gunsmith may be an alternative. It isn' t too difficult to have some holes tapped and drilled to your specs. Of course you' ll need the thread measurements for the particular screws being used.
