I have had my car doors and trunk open while my keys were in pocket. A day ago the neighbor lady came down to inform me of my trunk open again. It could have been open for hours. After correspondence with the manufacturer, I thought a delay could be extended, proved fruitless I searched the web. All I found was soft protectors and a few leather cases. What I wanted was something solid covering the buttons that could be removed to access them and also used to start the car while in place. So, I made one out of kydex. The key fits perfect and is easy to remove. More importantly, the buttons are impossible to press while in the sheath. Here is a few pics, thanks for looking.100_2895.jpg100_2896.jpg100_2898.jpg

You're welcome. Hopefully some others will try it out. I worried my trunk could be used to access inside because my seats fold down let alone when the doors unlocked.

Wow, what a great idea

I worry about my trunk also. I set my stupid Nissans alarm off at least once a week, pocket-style :p

I clip my keys to a belt loop (see the other key thread you'll understand why) but I do think it's a great idea... and the fact that the key is still usable in the sheath makes all that better.

And Nissans aren't stupid, they just don't learn to quick... at least that's what I say about mine...
